Month of june !

Image
What a great month I have had! In art, I have been hard at work making masks and decorations for the ball, and they looked so cool. I have also tried some new recipes, and the chickpea curry was sooo good. It is my goal to make more chicken-based recipes, so the chicken-flavoured chickpea curry was a good start to exploring them. We had a spa day in our guys' group where we made homemade face masks. It was so relaxing. We have also had lots of fun this month. We had our Masquerade Ball, where a DJ came in, and we spent the day dancing and hanging out with all our friends at Arohanui. The brass band came in for practice, and we all got to watch them play. It was so cool and something different. I also got to go and watch the drama production that all my friends had worked so hard on, and it was awesome to watch. I enjoyed a one-on-one shopping trip to get lots of things for the centre, like a new outside broom and an A-frame. The broom was so awkward to carry! I then enjoyed going...

Month of May

What a great month I have had. I have had a bit of practice at pool recently and am becoming quite the pool player. I have really been enjoying playing and getting better at aiming my shots and learning new skills along the way. I have also been going to the Greerton Hall on Thursdays for games, where the Willrose Centre meets us there. We listen to music, spend time together, and play lots of different games. My favourite game is tenpin bowling because it is always so much fun, and everyone gets really involved. There are always lots of laughs, and it is a great way to socialise and enjoy time with friends. We had a very special visitor to the centre when Devon Briggs came in and talked all about his sporting journey in paracycling. We asked him so many questions, and it was so inspiring to hear about everything he has achieved and the challenges he has overcome. It was really interesting listening to his experiences, and I enjoyed learning more about paracycling and his journey...

Community inclusion

Incredible work. I did lots of gardening at the Welcome Bay Community Centre, starting with weeds around the playground, then we moved hundreds of cabbage tree leaves from the eating area, and then, after lunch we tided the vege gardens and raked the beds ready for some new plants.  KB

Van washing
